So one of the guys here who name is Hai express to me that he never had a real birthday celebration before. Hearing that really made me sad, for he is one of my close friends here at the school and he also one one of the guys that I tutor English to every night. Since I put on so a great celebration for the other guy Kien, I had to do something for him. His Birthday just happened to fall on a big day here at our school Mission Sunday. We had a big mass celebration follow by a food fest in the gym. There were no time to go out and buy him a cake or anything but luckily the sisters had left over Ban Bo from the food fest so I got a few and put them on a plate and put some candles in it. I had the guys stayed in one of the rooms and brought him in and surprised him. My plan was just to have him blow out some candles and eat a little dessert, the guys however had different plans for him lolz. They tied him up and threw him in the showers ( see video below) lolz! After he dried up and everything we went back into my room sat in a circle had some food and church wine and had another amazing night. Although the prank we pull on him was kind of mean, at the end of the day he was really happy and we gave him a birthday he will never forget and that really put a warm feeling in my heart =].
One night I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord. Many scenes from my life flashed across the sky.
In each scene I noticed footprints in the sand. Sometimes there were two sets of footprints, other times there was one only.
This bothered me because I noticed that during the low periods of my life, when I was suffering from anguish, sorrow or defeat, I could see only one set of footprints, so I said to the Lord,
“You promised me Lord, that if I followed you, you would walk with me always. But I have noticed that during the most trying periods of my life there has only been one set of footprints in the sand. Why, when I needed you most, have you not been there for me?”
The Lord replied, “The years when you have seen only one set of footprints, my child, is when I carried you.”
